In this blog post co-authored with Iago Bojczuk, we discuss the influence of WhatsApp in the 2018 Brazilian Presidential elections. We review some of the research that was being done being done on the spread of fake news, and the context that WhatsApp occupies in Brazilian society.
From this blog post, we started a deeper (ongoing) research collaboration to better understand WhatsApp’s role as a platform in contemporary Brazil.
